All automakers generate parts catalogs to facilitate their replacement parts business. All automakers with 100 or more franchised dealerships in the U.S. have EPC programs and are included in this chart. This chart includes only those EPCs incorporating an automaker's full digital parts catalog content; therefore, this chart excludes both AM parts catalogs (typically built by companies such as MOTOR Information Systems for the aftermarket) and specialty catalogs (for example, Performance Parts, Accessories, ...). EPCs designed for dealership parts department countermen to specify parts - generally requiring expertise in that automaker's catalog structure and nomenclature as well as the sophisticated software to access the various data elements - are summarized in the rows titled "Professional" immediately following the heading for each automaker. EPCs that are designed for wholesale parts trade (B2B) or retail sales (B2C) and are embedded in an e-commerce (or, possibly, other) application are summarized in the rows titled "Embedded". Other EPC solutions (such as e-fiche or e-cats - typically pdf based) typically designed for back-up or as a substitute for paper or microfiche.

Notes:
EPCs that do not directly incorporate an automaker's parts catalog content will be covered separately. (Estimating systems - whether for collision or mechanical repairs - typically include an embedded parts catalog - but are excluded as they don't meet all the criteria for inclusion in this chart.) Also e-commerce solutions (with or without an automaker's EPC) will also be covered separately (including the TradeMotion implementations not included in this chart and WHI's parts e-commerce solutions. Special parts e-commerce applications that include or utilize an automaker's parts catalog database - but which do not provide the parts buyer with access to an EPC UI for specifying parts (for example, OEConnection's CollisionLink) is excluded from this chart and will be included in future content on OEM parts e-commerce.
